K.K.R. Hires Ex-Edison Chief as Senior Adviser

This seems to be more than just window dressing for the IPO. From DealBook:

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts said on Monday that it has hired John E. Bryson, the former chairman and chief executive of Edison International, a California power company, as a senior adviser for its new infrastructure efforts.

The hiring is the latest in a slew of appointments by the private equity giant as it prepares to go public. It also marks the latest addition to its burgeoning infrastructure team, as Kohlberg Kravis tries to enter a red-hot sector....
...He previously worked as a partner at the law firm Morrison & Foerster, and before that was president of the California Public Utilities Commission, chairman of the state’s Water Resources Control Board. He is also a co-founder of the Natural Resources Defense Council.
